Thursday
What if the person who seems the least likely to follow Jesus turns out to be the one whose faith changes everything?
Today's Scripture: "Where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God." — Ruth 1:16
Reflection: We've spent this week building toward a single, transforming truth: Christ welcomes everyone the world would turn away. Today, we get to see what that looks like in a real life.
Ruth was a Moabite — an outsider by every measure that mattered in the ancient world. She had no Jewish blood, no covenant heritage, no religious pedigree. When her Israelite husband died, she had every practical reason to go home to Moab and start over.
Instead, she said those unforgettable words to her mother-in-law Naomi: Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God.
She didn't have a roadmap. She didn't know how it would work out. She just stepped across the border — literally and spiritually — and trusted that the God of Israel would make a way.
And he did. Boaz, a kinsman-redeemer, brought her into the family. She was grafted into the covenant — not by birth, but by faith. And from her line came Obed, then Jesse, then David, then ultimately Jesus himself.
One woman's faithful step across a cultural and spiritual boundary became part of the road that led to the Messiah.
That's what God does with ordinary, willing people who simply show up.
Today's Application: Think about a time God brought you in from the outside — or used an unlikely person to point you toward him. Let that story fuel your faith and your willingness to be a "Naomi" to someone else.
A Closing Thought: You may never know this side of heaven what your faithful step of welcome sets in motion. Take it anyway.
