Three Ways to Put Your Blessings to Work Today

We've spent two days thinking about what it means to be blessed with a purpose. Today, let's get specific. Because faith that doesn't move isn't really faith — it's just a nice idea.

Today's Scripture: "For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away." — Matthew 25:29

Reflection:

In Jesus's parable of the talents, the servants who were commended didn't double their money by accident. They went to work. They took what they had, accepted the risk, and put it into motion. The servant who buried his talent wasn't evil — he was just afraid. And fear kept him from doing anything at all.

Here are three practical ways to put your blessings into motion this week:

1. Recognize what you actually have. You have something — time, skill, financial margin, spiritual peace, life experience, a listening ear. Name it. What has God placed in your hands right now?

2. Keep your eyes open to opportunity. The pastor reminded us Sunday: when God provides resources, he's usually about to provide an opportunity. When he opens an opportunity, he'll provide the resources. Pay attention to what's right in front of you this week.

3. Expand your circle by one. If everyone in your life is already a believer, you may need to widen your circle just slightly. One conversation. One neighbor. One coworker. One person who needs to know they're not forgotten.

You don't have to solve everything today. You just have to do something with what you've been given.

Today's Application: Choose one of the three steps above and take one concrete action on it before the end of today.

A Closing Thought: God doesn't ask for perfection. He asks for faithfulness — and faithfulness always starts with a single step.
