Wednesday

You already know what it is. You don't need someone to tell you. God's already told you.

Today's Scripture: "If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell." — Matthew 5:29

Reflection:

Jesus was not known for being vague. When He said to deal radically with the things that pull us toward sin, He meant it. The language is jarring on purpose. He wants us to feel the weight of what's at stake.

We've spent two days this week laying the foundation: God blesses those who wrestle honestly with His Word, and He is the full God — not just the comfortable parts. Now it's time to get specific. Because the whole point of wrestling with difficult truths is that they change how we actually live.

Throughout Scripture, God's consistent message to His people is this: don't let the source of temptation stay in your midst. Not because you're strong enough to resist it forever, but because you're not. None of us are. We make peace with things that are slowly pulling us away from God — a habit, a relationship, a pattern of thinking, a digital rabbit hole — and we tell ourselves it's not that bad.

But if it's keeping you from the life God designed for you, it is that bad. And the good news is, you don't have to white-knuckle your way through it alone.

Today's Application: Take three honest steps today: (1) Name the temptation you've been making excuses for. (2) Confess it to God specifically. (3) Identify one concrete boundary you can put in place this week to remove its access to your life.

A Closing Thought: God isn't asking you to be perfect. He's asking you to stop protecting the things that are holding you back from Him.
