When God's Word Feels Hard to Trust

Have you ever been reading your Bible and hit a passage that stopped you cold — not because it was inspiring, but because it was confusing, troubling, or just hard to make sense of?

Today's Scripture: "Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens." — Psalm 119:89

Reflection: Let's be honest. Parts of the Bible are difficult. Numbers opens with a census — lists of names and numbers that can feel completely disconnected from your Monday morning commute or your Tuesday afternoon meeting.

And sometimes the Bible raises questions we can't immediately answer.

Sunday's sermon didn't shy away from this. There are genuine interpretive puzzles in Numbers 1. Scholars across the spectrum wrestle with them. And rather than papering over the difficulty, the honest response is this: the Bible is meant to be studied, not just read.

Here's the good news — wrestling with hard passages doesn't mean your faith is weak. It might mean your faith is growing.

Think about it this way: every archaeological discovery that once seemed to challenge Scripture has eventually pointed back toward its reliability. Not one artifact has discredited God's Word. The hard questions aren't dead ends — they're invitations to dig deeper.

And when you dig, you grow. When you grow, your trust deepens. When your trust deepens, the wilderness seasons become a little less frightening.

You don't have to have all the answers to trust the One who does.
