Wednesday

Be honest: when's the last time you actually sat with your Bible — not glanced at a verse on your phone screen, but genuinely opened it and dug in?

Today's Scripture: "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him." — 1 John 5:1

Reflection:

This Sunday, the pastor made a comparison that's hard to shake. Studying scripture quickly — grabbing a verse-of-the-day before unlocking your phone and calling it good — is the spiritual equivalent of microwaved eggs. Technically, it's food. But it's not nourishing. And if that's your entire diet, you're going to be spiritually hungry no matter how often you technically "ate."

Numbers 34 is exactly the kind of passage most of us would skim past — a table of borders and place names that seems to have nothing to say to a Tuesday morning. But slow down, ask deeper questions, and suddenly it's a picture of God's love, his design for community, his gift of belonging. The richness was always there. It just required time to find it.

The same is true of your whole walk with God. Faith that overcomes — the kind John describes — isn't built on spiritual fast food. It's built on consistent, unhurried time with God and his word.

Here are three small, practical shifts:

1. Set a time, not just an intention. Pick a specific 15 minutes today — morning, lunch, evening — and protect it. 2. Ask four questions as you read: What does this say? What does it show me about God? What does it teach me about holy living? How does it draw me closer to him? 3. When you don't understand something, don't skip it. Sit with it. Look it up. Ask someone. Say, "I don't know, but let's find out."

Today's Application: Choose one passage — even just five verses — and spend 15 minutes with it today using those four questions. See what you find when you slow down.

A Closing Thought: Anything worth savoring takes time. Your soul is worth the slow breakfast.
