Have you ever looked at your life and thought, this is not how this was supposed to go? The detours, the delays, the seasons that felt like wasted time?
Today's Scripture: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence." — 2 Peter 1:3
Reflection: Israel's journey to the Promised Land should have taken weeks. Instead, it took 40 years. The map of their travels looks like a tangle of zigzags — wandering, circling, backtracking.
If you're honest, your own story might feel a little like that map.
Maybe you're in a season that feels like wilderness. Maybe you've made choices that sent you in the wrong direction, or life dealt you circumstances you never asked for. Maybe you're looking at where you are and wondering how God could possibly use this.
Here's the hard truth: the wilderness was real for Israel. The struggle was real. The failure was real. But so was God's presence in every single stop. He didn't abandon them in the wandering. He was there— providing manna, protecting them, shaping them for what was ahead.
God's power, as Peter reminds us, has already granted us everything we need for life and godliness. Not everything we want — but everything we need. That includes the hard seasons. That includes the detours.
The wandering isn't wasted when God is in it.
Today's Application: Identify one season of your life that felt like wilderness. Ask God today to show you what he was doing — or building — in you during that time.
