Wednesday

You can't cultivate a garden by accident. And you can't cultivate a life organized around God's presence by accident either.

Today's Scripture: "Do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is... be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father." — Ephesians 5:17-20

Reflection: This week we've been sitting with a big idea: the redeemed life is organized around God's presence. Today, let's get specific. The pastor offered several practical rhythms Sunday, and they're worth revisiting — not as a checklist, but as a starting place.

Start with prayer, not your phone. Before the noise of the day rushes in, bring what's on your heart to God first. Lay it at his feet. Then listen.

Find scripture that draws you in, not just scripture that feels obligatory. If Psalms opens your heart to God, start there. The goal isn't to check a box — it's to actually be in God's presence.

Commit to a time you can actually keep. There are no spiritual brownie points for 5 a.m. devotions if 5 a.m. is the time you're least present. God is awake at noon too. Pick the time that lets you actually show up.

None of these are revolutionary. But small, consistent rhythms — practiced with grace and not guilt — are how we slowly, genuinely organize our lives around what matters most.

Today's Application: Choose just one of these three rhythms to try today. Not all three. Just one. Small and consistent beats ambitious and abandoned every time.

A Closing Thought: Growth isn't about getting it perfect. It's about showing up, noticing when you drift, and returning. Christ makes returning possible.
